The Unfair Cost of AI Generated Art

As AI tools mimic the lifelong work of artists like Miyazaki in seconds, we must question the ethics of convenience and the future of creative integrity.

The recent advancements in OpenAI’s AI models are deeply concerning, especially in how they can replicate years of artistic experience within seconds using just a prompt. Seeing ChatGPT generate artwork in the unique style of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, a style built, developed and mastered through decades of dedication.

AI is already replacing developers and transforming programming. Now, it seems to be coming for art and design jobs too. This makes me sad, and I believe it will be a difficult time for many artists and designers. Which is not fair at all.

As I see people rushing to turn their photos into Ghibli style cartoons, I believe the ethical choice is to refrain from using this feature. Art has real value and deserves respect. It’s not something to be mimicked just because it’s cool or trendy.
